August 26th-August 30th:

Next week we will continue practicing our cursive penmanship.  We will practice letter Cc, Dd, and Ee.  I am attaching photo of the correct formation of those letters in cursive.  There isn't homework or a quiz associated with this.  But in case your child needs or wants extra practice at home, I wanted you to have access to it.

Wednesday is Chapel at 8:15am.  You are more than welcome to join us and sit with your student for a moment of worship, a short sermon/lesson, and some time in prayer.  I totally understand that that time doesn't work for most.
Thursday 8/28 is our first trial Spelling Quiz.  They will need to study all 17 words with emphasis on the capitalization of the three months listed.  They will also need to spell the vocabulary words correctly and match them to a provided definition.
If students make an A on the trial quiz then they will not need to take the actual quiz which will be on Friday 8/29.

Students can earn up to 4 bonus points for writing their spelling list at home.  They will receive 2 bonus points for writing the list TWICE in print, and 4 bonus points for writing the list TWICE in cursive.
Friday 8/30 will be our first scripture verse memorization quiz.  We will memorize Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Happy Night Before School!! I am so excited to see everyone tomorrow!!  I just wanted to take a moment to go over a few things for our first week back:

1.  I will send home a sign in paper for Class Dojo.  Please register your account by the end of the week.  I plan to share lots of photos and updates on the site soon.

2.  I will not be assigning any tests or quizzes for this week.  We will spend this first week of school getting to know one another and learning about procedures and expectations while diving into content at the end of the week.

3.  Please check this blog at once per week between Friday afternoon and Monday morning.  I will post important dates like upcoming tests/quizzes/projects, daily reminders, and class announcements on this blog.

4.  Please check over the class list to ensure your child has all of the supplies they need.  Don't hesitate to reach out if any of the items are unavailable to you for any reason.

5.  Please reach out to me anytime!  I'm excited to partner with you this year to make it a great year for these kids.  I will always try to respond to all emails prior to leaving the building, or as soon as I return the next morning.  You can also post questions on our Class Dojo thread and communicate with other parents.

6.  Familiarize yourself with the student handbook as I believe it has been updated in some areas.  It is available on the New Life website under "forms"

Thank you so much for entrusting your little one to me this year! I'm looking forward to a fun year with them.

Meet The Teacher Open House

Just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that we will be having an Open House on Thursday 8/15 from 5-6:30.  You can come anytime in that window as this will not be a formal presentation.  Just come straight to our classroom (walk in through the main doors, turn left, and we are the second door on the right).  This is an informal meet and greet.  I'll have a few items for you and your child, they can familiarize themselves with the space and their desk space, and you can bring your school supplies with you.  Please feel free to email me with any questions: amilanese@nlca.info

I am so excited to meet everyone and to get our new year started!
